Hand painted graphics are very suitable for rough surfaces. That’s one reason why Big City was called on to provide this approx. 28′ x 31′ UCI logo graphic on the northwest side of this 100′ high central plant water tank at UC Irvine in Orange County, CA.
Here, the 125′ lift is ready to go:
After prepping the surface with steel wool etching and a TSP wash, the paper pattern to transfer the full size design to the surface was applied and painting began.
Here you can see the depth of those ribs, and how big the work actually is:
Just for fun, I took a few photos from the lift to show how high it is:
Aaaaaannnnd… we’re done! Another happy client.

Got to do a little outdoor old school sign painting work at the end of July — this 58′ x 31′ hand painted graphic on a water tank at UC Irvine in Orange County CA.
Back in the beginning of August ’16, I finished this one in 30 seconds… (apparently). Thanks go to UC Irvine in Orange County CA for the video.
